Thanksgiving centerpiece

This year I made a big bowl of color with mums, hydrangea, brussel sprouts, apples, cattails, and radishes. I hope everyone had a wonderful Thanksgiving. I'm looking forward to a fun holiday season!

the wedding: october 1, 2011

There is nothing better than when two people that are so amazing fall in love and get married. Congratulations to two of my favorite friends, Bridgette and Britton! They chose the Humboldt Park Boathouse with its architectural glory as their spot to tie the knot. A crisp October day, the sky coulnd't have been more blue nor a day more perfect. I was honored to create the bouquets, boutonnieres, and table arrangements for them... and it was so fun that orange was their color! They gave away small pots of locally made honey at the reception complete with their BB wedding logo... oh how clever a pair with art and design backgrounds can be! Cheers to the BBs!!

wedding succulents

When I found out a few months ago that I would be doing the flowers for my good friends' wedding, I started growing a variety of succulents to use for their big day. And that day was yesterday. I had a set of vintage wooden bowls that were perfect for these arrangements. I had so much fun making them! More photos from their beautiful wedding coming soon!

admire and inspire: three amazing ladies

fleurish.

Nisha Kelen started her floral design business, fleurish , out of a one car garage and her passion continues to thrive after 12 years. It mostly took her mom's sincere push with 4 words... "just go for it" and so she did! Fleurish was the outcome of believing in her creativity and a dedicated work ethic.

Flora Grubb is amazing. If I could move to SF and work for Flora, I would. The article about her at ReadyMade.com is completely inspirational. Read it here: How Did You Get That F*&%ing Awesome Job?: Plant Prowess

Larkspur.

Beth Barnett created Larkspur in 1994 out of a desire to create personalized floral designs for Chicago's discerning clientele. After specializing in weddings and commercial accounts for ten years, Beth expanded the business into its current Bucktown location in the fall of 2004 with the hope of offering a comfortable space where she and her customers could be inspired daily by an extensive selection of flowers and plants from around the world. I have the pleasure to work for Beth occasionally when she needs some extra help setting up large scale weddings and parties in some of the most amazing locations like the Modern Wing at the Art Institute of Chicago. She is by far my biggest inspiration...and such a great lady!

small floral samples

holiday arrangements

Christmas doesn't always have to be red and green. This table arrangment with orange flowers and clementines was one of my favorites. I had orange ornaments on my tree to match. I love orange!
